The Alenia Aeronautica Sky-Y, also known as Skylynx and Lince, is a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) for surveillance missions. The Sky-Y made is maiden flight June 2007. The prototype aircraft is being tested to mature UAV technologies enabling longer flight endurance, data gathering and network-centric capabilities. The current Sky-Y prototype is powered by a 160-hp diesel engine developed from automotive engine technology and coupled with a three-blade propeller at the rear fuselage. The aircraft has maximum flight endurance of 12 hours. It features an all-composite structure and all-electric actuator systems.
